Orthophosphates are the most stable form of a phosphate and act solely as a corrosion control agent. Unlike a polyphosphate or products containing a polyphosphate, an orthophosphate will not sequester cations such as iron and manganese. In many waters the best corrosion protection can be acheived with an orthophosphate alone. The additon of a zinc containing compound to an orthophosphate formulation can sometimes significantly increase the degree of protection achieved.
